Energy meters - A class one kWH meter is installed into the sub supply of the recorded load. Each sub electricity user is fitted with its own kWh meter. The kWh meters are pre-fitted with an on-board high level protocol port that output the actual kWH reading of the meter to the Power Billing Software.
Communication gateway - A Modbus gateway provides a client-server communication between the kWh meters and the Power Billing Software computer on the network. Modbus-RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) means that the Modbus protocol is used on top of a serial line with an RS-485 physical interface. The gateway converts the Modbus RTU protocol to an Modbus Ethernet protocol allowing the power billing software on the computer to read multiple kWh meters. Up to ten thousand kWh meters can be connected to the gateway on the Power Billing System
Database - The kWh meter readings is logged into a database for data retention. The tenants information, costings and meter allocations are configured in the database that is installed behind the Power Billing Software.
